Someday, boys will pull up them trousers!

"Crack of dawn" took on a whole new meaning this morning. Natalie and I were greeted with quite a sight as we braced the early morning for our 8AM math class. I've seen the whole low-ridin jeans with boxers and what not ....but this guy...THIS guy skipped a step - and a very important one at that.

Don't mind the extraordinary quality - had to be sly while capturing this beauty.

Now, I don't know where this trend originated, but I do have some idea of who to point fingers at in terms of keeping the trend alive...

Someday, I'll see from a different POV...

This Week's Revelation:

Sometimes, it's not about asking for a different result. It's about asking for a different perspective.

Someday, I'll have a green thumb.

It all started on a Sunday. Winter term was imminent. Upon our return to school, Natalie and I ventured down the street to Hiron's {aka the "everything store" - going there is an event in itself}. As we gathered some essentials for the start of the new term, a beacon of light shined down upon the planting section. It was decided. We were going to plant something.

{love fern}
 No, not like that.

After perusing our numerous options for indoor plants, we decided on some daisy-thing. We just saw the word "hardy" and assumed that it would be easy to take care of. Soooo after googling some basic plant-care tips, digging out a cheap, ugly basket from the clearance aisle, and stealing soil from a nearby flowerbed {not an easy task in front of security guards - oh and the hole is still there} we planted Jeffrey {our plant's name} and watched him grow.

And then....
{Jeffrey stopped drinking his water... maaaaaaybe got a LITTLE too much}

3 weeks in....C'mon Jeffrey, pull through!

Things aren't really looking up for Jeffrey. Literally. He's kind of wilting. Darn tree in front of the window blocking all Jeffrey's sunlight.  >:(

Happy anniversary!

Mom & Pops, here's to 20 years of marriage! J and I are so blessed to have such witty, strong, and gracious parents who love us unconditionally. Sending all my love and hoping you have a wonderful day celebrating one of God's greatest gifts. I hope someday I will be lucky enough to find what you have found.

Someday, I'll regularly blog...

Sooooooo I realize I've been a little MIA and haven't had a new post in a while - school is entirely to blame. With the start of a new term, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things and have kind of neglected to take time and write. Shame on me...then again, cut this college girl some slack! Well I hope to be whipping out a few more posts this week so stay tuned!
Hitting the books... FIRST MIDTERM TODAY! GAAAH

Someday, we'll have a home to call our own.

Where has my childhood gone and when will it be coming back?! Nubbles {Natalie},the roomie & best friend, and I have been knee-deep in apartment listings and applications for next year. We are glad to say we will not be returning to our dorm, AKA box, next year but we both feel extremely under-qualified to be searching for an APARTMENT of our own! It is still hard for both of us to wrap our heads around the fact that we are even in college.

Our current little home is getting us very anxious for a slightly more spacious home. Our dorm has two temperatures: hot or cold, often smells like burritos, allows for one person to be walking around at a time, has NO closet space (only a SMALL hanging space and a few drawers), and is QUITE dated. Have I mentioned our fabulous TV {courtesy of Jeanie Braun}...we are thankful to have one with its bedazzled remote with missing buttons and all, but it may be just as old as the dorm complex. :)

Retro.
In our "box".
Someday {hopefully next year} we'll have a home to call our own...

Someday, we'll be reunited...

You know that feeling when you watch the Sarah Mclachlan animal commercials? Yeah, kind of getting that lump in my throat so bear with me...
Kitty&Me
After 90 something {cat} years, Kitty's nine lives are finally expiring. Known for being extremely large {one time a friend asked what my "dog" was doing under the car}, he has slowed down a bit now and it's his time to go. This little feline was the first Christmas gift I have a vivid memory of receiving. Poor Kitty got stuck with SUCH an original name, right? It went from Symba to Princess to I think even Stinky Sock at one point, however my inability to give the darn cat a permanent name landed him the name, Kitty. Although Kitty sheds like crazy, leaves presents on the rug EVERY time he's left alone in the house, and invites stray friends over without asking, he's a true member of the Hallin family and there were definitely some tears when the Hallin clan learned he would be leaving us so soon.

Yeah, I know he's just a cat {I don't even really think I'm a "cat person'} but this cat - my first pet - has grown up with me, moved through to three houses with me, and has provided a lot of conversation starters with all of his quirky shenanigans. He's a little piece of my childhood I'm losing and the thought of this makes me quite melancholy. Even my mother, not the biggest Kitty fan {as she is the sole popper-scooper, feeder, and "present" cleaner-upper} is a little broken up to see him go. Her and my brother shared some tears at the vet's office. He's lived a good, full life and I know there's a special place in cat-Heaven for him.

I love you, Kitty. You'll always hold a place in my heart. I'll miss you.

Someday, he'll be taller than I am...

Back at school in Eugene now and missing this "lil' fella" as the fam-bam calls him. Really though, he ain't so lil' anymore. This stud just turned 12 and started middle school and I wish I could be there to be that advice-giving, meddling big sister - however, I know this smart, dapper young lad will be just fine. Although his busy middle-schooler schedule kept him quite consumed over winter-break, I still captured a few fun moments with my baby brother, Jake.
{Before his saxophone debut in his first band concert.}
Although he probably couldn't stomach admitting that he misses his totally awesome big sis, I'm sure he longs for my smothering embraces and surprise ninja attacks.

Hope to see you soon, J.

Someday, I'll be as regal as Rooney Mara.

Rooney Mara graces {or perhaps storms} the screen as Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo based on one of the three books in Stieg Larsson's trilogy. One can only root for her character's rebellious yet justice-seeking nature. This film weaved its way into my list of favorite cinematic experiences of 2011. I'd highly recommend catching this one on the big screen.

Just watching the trailer gives me goosebumps!

Although many parts of the movie were at times hard to stomach, they were executed in such a powerful manner. I got so enveloped in the story and applaud the talent of all the actors as well as those who contributed to the production.

Epic.

Someday, we'll be hipsters.

Hipster day with Bo. Nuff said.

How to be a hipster.

Not so sure we really make the cut. I think we ruined our chances of being hipsters merely by labeling the day "hipster day". A true hipster doesn't really recognize his or her lifestyle as one that fits into a category. Oh well. We are embracing the irony of taking old fashioned photos with fancy cameras.

Happy hipster-ing!
