Someday, there'll be palm trees.

My lovely cousin, Grace :), asked me to venture down to sunny Palm Springs with her last week...tooooooo bad I had finals confining me to the snow-covered U of O campus. So while Grace basked in the glorious rays of California and became a tan goddess, I bundled up and braced the chill of Sun River with the fam {still a mighty dandy time, I must say}.

Still determined to cross the Oregon/Cali border & see a palm tree this year.

Someday, my life will be a country music song.

Aaaaah country music. What is it about this enchanting genre that makes me think of summertime, young love, & livin free...
~
We "owned the night" at the Lady A concert last Wednesday. With seats up in the boonies that landed us between some true rednecks & four soccer moms {who clearly hadn't had a night out in a looooooong time} and a trek through the snow in heeled cowboygirl boots {see this post} it was nevertheless a memorable affair that I'm glad I got to share with my bestie. I'd trek through just about anything to attend an event that Darius Rucker, Thompson Square, & Lady Antebellum would make an appearance to.

About to brace the mid-March arctic blast!

 {Up in the boonies...but loved every second!}

Someday, we'll have a white Christmas.

But for now, we're getting a white March.
We'll take it! Yay for cancelled classes, footprint snow art, & snuggling back into bed to keep warm.
I was worried the Lady Antebellum concert would be cancelled... but no ma'am! It was quite a sight watching cowgirl-clad Nat & I trek through the snow. Luckily the evening's event was right next door in Matthew Knight Arena.

Someday, I'll stop burning myself...

Being the major klutz I am, I cannot say this is my first burn to leave a mark.
{I have the scars to prove it.}
And this time, it was with ICE! Ouchie...blonde moment: putting ice pack directly onto skin. Oops.

Shin splints = no bueno.

Someday, Jack Dawson will be on the big screen!

I remember that epic day in December of 1997...

No, are you kidding? My parents didn't let me see Titanic when I was five! I remember patiently waiting for my parents to return from seeing this epic film while I sat at my grandparents' house with my two older cousins. Yes, I was deprived of this monumental cinematic experience on the big screen the first time around, so you can bet your bottom dollar I'm not going to miss it this April when it returns to the big screen in....{wait for it}.....3D!! Ask anyone--I'm quite the Titanic fanatic. I may have let out a modest scream when its return to theaters was first announced.

Jack Dawson, for you, my heart will ALWAYS go on!  {Take it away, Celine!} I'll never let go...

Oh, and P.S.
Major props to James Cameron. 15 years later and his movie still neglects to appear as "dated" as most 90s films would...or at least in my eyes anyway.

Someday, my sweet tooth will be satisfied...

...AND LENT WILL BE OVER.

So Natalie, Sarah {future apartment roomie}, and I decided to give up desserts for Lent this year. Need I say more? The contents of our freezer is a sugar coma waiting to happen: frosting, chocolate, a marshmallow snowman, a batch of cookies, Easter candy, chocolate-caramel clusters, and ughhh I don't even want to LOOK in the freezer to be able to finish the list {too darn tempting}.

But hey now, before you get toooo impressed by our strong "will-power,"you should know that we did say from the start that Starbucks and fro-yo {no toppings though!} were allowed. So...we have not been completely deprived, but it has been a challenge nonetheless.

Just some sweets from our Mardi-Gras binge. :)
{For us this is more about the principle of resisting temptation than
the "health benefits."}

Someday, I'll regain title of head cake decorator.

Happy birthday, Momma! I'm sad I can't be there to celebrate with you and the fam but I trust you all engaged in some fun festivities {even though you told me you were spending your birthday weekend fixing up the rental...tsk tsk}. Sending all my love and birthday wishes to a very special birthday girl for whom I have so much to thank. You deserve all the best on your special day.
I love you!

Someday, we'll see justice.

No words.

Someday, I'll get the classes I want...

Being a freshman at the UofO & registering for classes = one unhappy student who had to be extremely careful to filter & censor her anger while writing an email to the registration office...

To whom it may concern,

I am writing in regards to the registration process and sadly I feel I am not alone in my frustrations. I was told that those who were allotted the last registration times at the end of a previous term would have the chance (amongst students of similar academic standing in terms of credits) to register earlier. I feel I was deprived of this supposed privilege and for another consecutive term I am obligated to enroll in and pay tuition for classes I do not feel will benefit me as an undergraduate student whatsoever. I also feel I cannot efficiently fulfill my requirements. With rising tuition  costs, I deem it an injustice to have such scarce openings in classes at this point in registration. I am well-aware that I am a freshman and will not have first priority. However, I should not be as limited as I am in what is offered. I am sure similar emails have been received and I hope my concerns will not go unobserved. I ask as a student who holds my education in high regard that the staff in charge of registration work towards a system that allows freshman students to have more options when registering for classes and that does not leave the same students registering at the end of each registration period.

Respectfully,
Brittany Hallin
