You know that feeling when you watch the Sarah Mclachlan animal commercials? Yeah, kind of getting that lump in my throat so bear with me...

Kitty&Me |
After 90 something {cat} years, Kitty's nine lives are finally expiring. Known for being extremely large {one time a friend asked what my "dog" was doing under the car}, he has slowed down a bit now and it's his time to go. This little feline was the first Christmas gift I have a vivid memory of receiving. Poor Kitty got stuck with SUCH an original name, right? It went from Symba to Princess to I think even Stinky Sock at one point, however my inability to give the darn cat a permanent name landed him the name, Kitty. Although Kitty sheds like crazy, leaves presents on the rug EVERY time he's left alone in the house, and invites stray friends over without asking, he's a true member of the Hallin family and there were definitely some tears when the Hallin clan learned he would be leaving us so soon.
Yeah, I know he's just a cat {I don't even really think I'm a "cat person'} but this cat - my first pet - has grown up with me, moved through to three houses with me, and has provided a lot of conversation starters with all of his quirky shenanigans. He's a little piece of my childhood I'm losing and the thought of this makes me quite melancholy. Even my mother, not the biggest Kitty fan {as she is the sole popper-scooper, feeder, and "present" cleaner-upper} is a little broken up to see him go. Her and my brother shared some tears at the vet's office. He's lived a good, full life and I know there's a special place in cat-Heaven for him.
I love you, Kitty. You'll always hold a place in my heart. I'll miss you.
